Q

If I already know some German (I'd say I could speak fluently if I learned more vocabulary), is that going to pave the way to an easier understanding/learning of the Norwegian language? I'd really like to be trilingual so I'm curious, what is the best way to go about learning Norwegian? It's a beautiful language and I'm half Norwegian as well. It's time I got back to my roots! ;)

It will help a bunch for sure, although your English will be more of an aid than German. Norwegian sentance structure is very similar to English, and a large amount of her loaner words come from English. Just the fact that you’re already used to processing information in a second language is a big one up over others. Certain things are close to German, like you might say pas auf (spelling?) for ‘watch out’, and in Norwegian it’s ‘pas paa’.

Unfortunately, the easiest way for me to learn was to live in Norway.But thankfully there is a huge amount of Norwegian media online, with videos, text, the whole shebang. http://nrk.no is a super resource as is http://nrksuper.no which is aimed at children and has easier Norwegian. If you can find the series, Alt For Norge, watch it haha.Its all about a group of norwegian americans connecting to their roots, not unlike you or I. If you need some help, with sentance structure I might be able to help out! Or just general questions, hopefully this was helpful fo you =)
